The NHS in mid Essex is making changes to care in Braintree and Maldon Districts and Chelmsford City – and we want you to get involved.

When people are medically fit to go home after a spell in hospital, Mid Essex Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) wants to help them get there more quickly, with support and care to get them back to their ‘peak’ health.

To help with this, the CCG is looking to start a new service called Home First that could offer different places for recovery after their hospital stay.

At the same time, the NHS wants to carry out more orthopaedic surgery at Braintree Community Hospital, which has two operating theatres ideally suited to it. This will help reduce waiting times and cancellations for people who need the surgery. But it means changing who uses one of the hospital’s wards.

How would this affect you, your family or friends in the community? What would you like us to take into consideration as part of our plans?

There is still time to share your views through our online survey. You can find the survey, plus more details of what Home First will mean, by following the links at Your last chance to comment is Friday 1st December 2017.

You can also share your views at the final Home First public meeting in South Woodham Ferrers next week or, if you cannot attend, by contacting the CCG on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or by phoning 01245 459414.
