Folder How We Engage

We meet our duty to involve the public and patients in a variety of ways and aim to work actively with patients, carers and the public to embed the values of the NHS Constitution into everything that we do.

You can read a summary how we have met our duty to involve in our Engagement Report 2019/20:

We recognise that some parts of our community are less easily heard than others and have worked hard to build a clear understanding of the opportunities we have to reach them. The CCG also ensures that where we run surveys, we capture demographic information about those who respond. Some of those we have engaged with include:

  • People with physical disabilities
  • People with mental ill health
  • People with learning disabilities
  • The LGBT community
  • Carers
  • Parents with young children
  • Older people

We record how we engage with our communities so our Board, particularly our Lay Member – Patient and Public Engagement can hold us accountable for that involvement. Making these records available to our residents also means we can be transparent about what we are doing – and gives our residents the chance to tell us if we are missing anything, or anyone, from our involvement work.

The 360° Survey is run by an independent polling company to assess how every CCG in England is viewed by its stakeholders. The communications and engagement plans are for recent projects the CCG has worked on with partners. The comms and engagement reports are made to our Board every quarter, as part of the publicly available Board papers.

Our engagement logs track individual meetings and events our directors and staff attend. And the feedback from engagement programmes shows outcomes from major engagement exercises we have undertaken.
