The Board of Mid Essex CCG is responsible for making decisions about which health services to commission for local people. The Board is accountable to both NHS England and our GP member practices.

Our Board is made up of local GPs representing the 40 practices across 9 Primary Care Networks in our area, lay members, a designated consultant in Public Health and members of our senior management team. You can find out more about each individual Board member here.

Meetings in public

The Board meets in public bi-monthly to discuss local health issues and make decisions. Members of the public and stakeholders are welcome to attend the CCG’s Part I Board meetings where there is an opportunity to ask questions about items on the agenda or local health services.

How to join our Board meetings virtually

Prior to the Coronavirus Pandemic all CCG Governing Body (Board) Part I meetings were held in public. As of March 2020, these meetings were suspended for health and safety reasons. We restarted our Board meetings in public from July 2020 and these currently take place via Microsoft (MS) Teams whilst social distancing restrictions remain in place.

During the coronavirus crisis CCG staff have been advised to work from home, it will therefore not be possible to circulate hardcopies of papers. However, Part I Board papers will be published here one week in advance of the meeting.

Please note, the meetings will be recorded to support the production of the minutes.

Set out below is further information to explain how you can access these meetings.

How do I access the Governing Body meetings?

  • Anyone with an internet connection or phone line can access virtual CCG Governing Body meetings via the MS Teams links published on CCG websites.
  • While you can join through a mobile/smartphone by downloading the MS Teams App, you are advised to use a desktop or laptop computer. If you choose to access the meeting through a mobile/smartphone you will receive a prompt about installation and use of the MS Teams app alongside the request for a username and password to access the meeting. This is not a requirement when using a desktop or laptop computer. Registration with and use of the app (with GDPR compliance) is therefore at individual discretion.
  • You will then need to click “Join now”. Watch a video about how to attend a Microsoft Live event.

  • A  link to join a meeting will be posted on this page one week prior to the schuedled meeting date.

Please note we are looking into providing telephone access at future Board meetings for those people unable to get online. Please bear with us while we work to resolve this.

How do I submit a question to the Governing Body?

As part of our commitment to putting local residents at the heart of our commissioning decisions, Mid Essex CCG welcomes questions from members of the public about the items being discussed at the CCG’s Board meetings.

Members of the public are invited to submit questions in writing ahead of each Board meeting. There will be a dedicated section during the meeting to address any questions from members of the public; please check the relevant agenda.

You need JavaScript enabled to view it. at least 48 hours before the meeting to enable a verbal response to be provided wherever possible. Questions and responses provided at the meeting are recorded in the minutes of the meeting which are posted on the CCG’s website prior to the next Part I Board meeting.

If it is not possible to fully answer a question during the meeting, a written response will be provided directly to the relevant person.

Due to time constraints and dependant on the number of people who wish to ask questions, it might be necessary for the CCG’s Chair to restrict the number of questions per person. How will you make sure the meeting is inclusive?

There are a number of functions on MS Teams that will make our virtual Board meetings more accessible and enable local residents to attend from the comfort of their own home.
